I was compelled to enter the Quilt the Blues challenge sponsored by McCall’s Quilting, Quiltmaker, Fons & Porter’s Love of Quilting, Quilting Arts, and Modern Patchwork magazines, and create this piece representing the enormous holes left behind when loved ones die. I knew I was an out-of-the-box quilter entering a show tailored to traditional works – but I still made the cut! The holes they leave will always be there, but eventually, healing begins, and holes get somewhat smaller. This piece was travelled the USA during 2016-2017.
