The American Shad was created in response to my first call for entries for a juried CT Region SAQA show called Connecticut Local Color and is one of my first art quilts created in 2013. Doing my research, I discovered that the state fish of CT is the American Shad, known for its determination in its yearly swim upstream. This piece was juried into the Local Color show, toured CT, including the Legislative Office Building, and was also juried into the Noticing Nature exhibit at The Foundry, St. Charles, MO in 2016.
